🌿 What Is Hering’s Law of Cure?

Hering’s Law of Cure describes the natural direction of true healing. It was developed by Dr. Constantine Hering, a pioneer in natural medicine. He observed that the body heals in predictable patterns as it restores balance and vitality.

When your body begins to heal naturally, you may notice changes that seem unusual — old symptoms reappear, emotional releases surface, or discomfort shifts from one area to another. This is not regression — it’s progress.


🌱 The Four Principles of Healing

According to Hering’s Law, healing occurs:

  1. From the inside out
    • True healing begins deep within — in the vital organs and emotional centers — before reaching the skin or surface.
    • Example: Digestive health or emotional balance may improve before skin symptoms fade.
  2. From the top down
    • Healing often starts at the head and moves downward through the body.
    • Example: Headaches may clear before shoulder tension or joint pain eases.
  3. From most vital to least vital organs
    • The body prioritizes vital systems (like the heart, lungs, and kidneys) before addressing less essential areas (like the skin or extremities).
  4. In reverse order of symptom appearance
    • The most recent symptoms often clear first.
    • Older conditions or suppressed symptoms may reappear briefly as the body releases and corrects past imbalances.

🌻 What You Might Notice During Healing

  • Temporary return of old symptoms (physical or emotional)
  • Changes in energy, sleep, appetite, or mood
  • Increased elimination (sweating, urination, bowel activity) as toxins leave the body
  • Gentle emotional release as stored stress is processed

These are often signs that your system is rebalancing — not that it’s getting worse. Listen to your body and keep notes of what you experience.


🌼 Supporting the Healing Process

To assist your body as it follows its natural healing path:

  • Stay well hydrated
  • Get plenty of rest and fresh air
  • Eat whole, nourishing foods
  • Practice mindfulness or gentle movement
  • Avoid suppressing symptoms with harsh medications or chemicals (unless medically necessary)
  • Communicate any concerns or significant changes with your naturopath
